A Platform Designed Around How Engineers Actually Work

Most developer platforms are assembled from acquisitions — a logging tool bought here, a gateway bolted on there. Collective of Boston was designed from a single blank canvas, which means every component shares the same data model, the same authentication layer, and the same CLI. You configure your API routes, deployment rules, and alerting thresholds in one YAML manifest and check it into your existing repo. CI/CD pipelines pick it up automatically. There is no separate ops console to log into, no second set of credentials to rotate, and no surprise interactions between modules that were never designed to coexist.

Core Product Modules

Each module is available standalone or as part of the full platform bundle.

  • API Gateway

Route, authenticate, and rate-limit traffic with a declarative configuration file. Supports REST, GraphQL, and gRPC out of the box. Add a new endpoint in under two minutes without a deployment window — configuration changes propagate across the EU edge network in under 30 seconds.

  • Developer Console

A clean, inkblue-on-warmwhite interface gives you a live request explorer, structured log search, and percentile latency charts. Filter by tenant, endpoint, or status code. Export any view as a CSV or push it directly to your data warehouse via our native Snowflake and BigQuery connectors.

  • Event Webhooks

Subscribe to any platform event — new user, failed payment, quota exceeded — and receive a signed, retryable webhook with automatic exponential back-off. Each delivery attempt is logged with the full request and response body so debugging a missed event takes seconds, not hours.

  • Auth & Identity

Plug in OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, or API key authentication without writing a single line of auth code. Role-based access control is configurable at the route level. Session tokens are short-lived and automatically rotated; refresh token revocation propagates globally in under five seconds.

  • Auto-generated Docs

Every route you configure automatically generates an OpenAPI 3.1 specification and a human-readable reference page. The docs site is branded to your product, hosted on your subdomain, and updated on every deploy — so your documentation is never out of date with your actual API.

“The auto-generated documentation alone saved us roughly two weeks of developer time per quarter. We used to maintain a Notion wiki alongside our API, and it was always wrong. Now the docs are built from the same source as the code. Our external partners noticed the improvement within days of us switching.”

Built on Open Standards, Not Lock-In

Every data format Collective of Boston uses is an open standard: OpenAPI, CloudEvents, JWT, OIDC. Your configuration files are plain YAML. Your logs are structured JSON you can ship anywhere. We do not invent proprietary query languages or closed SDKs to make switching costs artificially high. If you ever decide to move on, your data exports in standard formats and your team keeps all the skills they built while working with our platform. We believe the best way to earn long-term customers is to make the platform genuinely worth staying on.
